Why Helvetica?
Helvetica®, first introduced in Switzerland in 1957, is globally recognized for its clarity, simplicity, and universal appeal. This iconic Swiss typeface delivers outstanding legibility, enhancing the precision of measurement markings and making Horizon Helvetica® notably user-friendly. By merging Helvetica’s timeless functionality with the versatile Horizon design tool, Horizon Helvetica® fosters effortless creativity and accuracy. Owning a Horizon Helvetica® not only provides practical everyday utility, but also adds a piece of design heritage to any collection.
Helvetica's cultural impact includes being the only font to have an exhibition at MoMA and the subject of Gary Hustwit's documentary, the sole film dedicated to a typeface. It has been used worldwide to design thousands of logos and brands, from Nestlé and BMW to Lufthansa and Microsoft. Massimo Vignelli's 1966 wall calendar, designed with Helvetica, is the only calendar in MoMA's permanent collection. Vignelli also revolutionized New York City's subway signs with Helvetica, making navigation simple and efficient.
